Soon the world will ring in the New Year and New Decade, a special year because it symbolizes FRESH BEGINNINGS. As for many friends and family around me, I take this time think back over the past 10 years reflecting on the past and hope the 2020s will be great to me.
Before I can begin to think about the 2020s I must reflect on past decade 2010.
I was young back then and just out of college. Soon dreams of a bright future started to fade as my career wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. The promises of bright happy life was dwindleing fast. Not all was lost for I took a chance that changed my life forever. A journey of a life time with 8 years full of great memories living abroad. Check out my travel advice for China and Turkey.

Through through those many expericences I learned how to enjoy the find things in Life, and gained a great deal of knowledge about Fine Wines. Calming, relaxing and stress relief Wine Magic!
For the past decade I find myself writting down 100 things and resolutions I’d like to acommplish for that year and this New Decade. Some resolutions are simple while others are more ambitios such as losing weight, reading more books, skydiving and traveling.
This New Years and New Decade I’m starting off my daily routine with “coffee and wine”. Drinking coffee in the morning for decades come naturally to me. As well as having an average of one glass of wine each night. From what I learned in the past is to enjoy yourself.

Visit China now, which is an amazing country full of history with many unique places to visit. Blessed to spend 3 1/2 years living there I saw so many spectacular places. Don’t expect to see everything in one trip. To see the most and with the comfort of a guide book a tour. If you are an adventure like me backpack your ways across the country. (If backpacking plan well, but expect to change your plans as needed because traveling like a local can be a headache sometimes.) These are my top 10 places to see but there are for sure many more places I could have added to my list…but these are by sure at the top.
10: Harbin
If you love the cold weather this is the place for you. Harbin is located in Heilongjiang Province in the far NE region of China. This city is unique because it was once ruled by Russia so be sure to stop and take photos in front of the Hagia Sophia and check out the Museum while you are there. In every Chinese city, you must stroll down the walking street. And Zhongyang Pedestrian Street is a lovely place to spend an evening.

While visiting this great city be sure to stop by and see the Siberian Tiger Park. Then take in the view at Sun Island and Harbin Polarland. If time allows, spend some time at the Children Park. Before to take in the view of the Songhua River.
But the most famous all is the International Ice and Show Festival. A true winter wonderland that is located on Sun Island. This is a month-long event in January which is open to the public starting in the late afternoons and evenings. An entire city made of ice. Buildings that are 2,3,4 stories high. All of which are made completely of ice. The worlds largest Ice Festival that covers nearly 80 Hectors. Be sure to dress warmly for temperatures can reach 40 below zero.

9: Changchun and Jilin Provence
Changchun is located in NE China and holds fame for being the location of the last Empire. Home Tongde Hall of the Manchukuo Imperial Palace otherwise known as the Puppet Palace. Spend a day at the World Sculpture Park admiring sculptures from famous artists from around the world. To make your stay in the city complete check out the Walking Streets and shopping of Chongqing Lu and Guilin Lu and don’t forget the largest shopping mall in the world, Eurasia.
Street Food
While in Jilian Province check out the World Heritage Site of Ji’an Gaogouli National Archaeological Park. Followed by Changbaishan and the Heavenly Lake. It gets this name because it is a crater lake on top of a mountain and cultural importance to the Korean People. Probably the closest you can get to North Korea. If lucky you might even see the Lake Tianchi Monster.
Kunming, known as Spring City because of its pleasantly mild weather, is located in the SW Province of Yunnan. Enjoy the afternoon at the Ethnic Village as you learn about the many Ethnicities of the Chinese people. Travel outside the city to the breathtaking natural beauty area of Shilin or Stone Forrest and Jiuxiang Cave.
Hope on a train Dali a city known for its natural scenery, cultural heritage, and vibrant nightlife. Other must-see cities in Yunnan Province are Lijian, Shangrila.

When you visit Cina this is one of those places that I suggest you go with a tour group. You can find a wide variety of companies giving you many great options.
Visit the Lhasa to see the Potala Palace a World Heritage Site, Jokhang Temple/ Monastery, and Norbulingka Palace. Experience the Buddist Culture up close and personal. The Lhasas is

6: Xi’an
Terracotta Soldiers
Visit China to see one of the oldest cities of Xi’an. This is the starting point of the Silk Road and the Terracotta Soldiers and home to the First Emperor of China.
While in Xi’an bike on top of the City Wall as well as the Drum and Bell Towers, go to the Chinese Opera, Take a Photo with the Terracotta Soldiers, Walk around the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor, check out the Muslim Quarters, plus seek a peek at the Giant and Small Goose Pagodas. Well worth your stay in Xi’an a city full of such history.
5: Beijing
Visit China and the great city of Beijing a place you could spend a week and still not see everything. Book tours or try to see it on your own. Public transportation is cheap and easy for being such a massive city. Here is my list of what to see…

This bustling city is the financial hub of China. While on business in Shanghai take time to see the sights.

3: Sichuan Region of Chengdu and Chongqing
Hot Chili Peppers
This region in China has grown in fame for several things. And at the top of the list is Hot Pot. Sichuan Hot Pot is a must-try food. Be prepared for your mouth to be on fire. Take in an Opera Show as your mouth cools off. Be sure to go on a Yangtze River and Three Gorges River Cruise. One of my favorite day trips was to Leshan to see the Giant Buddha a 71 meter tall stone statue built into the side of a cliff. And to finish off your tour of this region spend the day at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding Center.

2: Hainan
Hainan is nicknamed the Hawaii of China. Truly beach lovers dream come true, relax on Dachonghai Beach then take in the spectacular view from on top of the Love Hill in Luhuitou Park. Plan to visit the Nanshan Temple and Nanwan Monkey Island. Before relaxing some more on one of the many beaches and islands in Hainan.
1: Hong Kong and Macau
Hong Kong and Macau are set apart from Mainland China due to the occupational rule of Britain. Macau, of course, is where you go to gamble at one of the many Casinos. Check out a Show such as the House of Dancing Waters. Check out the nightlife in both Hong Kong and Macau. As for Hong Kong, there are so many things to see and do.

9. Konya and the Whirling Dervishes.
Make a stop to see the Whirling Dervishes. They perform every Saturday at 19:00 for the public. This is about a 2-hour event which is free of charge. The religious-spiritual ceremony that is memorizing as you watch them spin in a trans-like state. You be memorized by the dazzling performance of the Whirling Dervishes.

8. Antalya
A must visit the old town (Kaleici) and the Marina. I prefer to stay in this area, it’s just fun. Although many stay at famous all-inclusive resorts. Make sure to see the Hadrian’s Gate and clock tower. Take some day tours from the city to see the Temple of Apollo, Mt. Olympos, Myra Ruins, St. Nicholas Church, Duden Waterfalls, Demre, Perge, Koprulu Canyon, Aspendos Ruins (you can watch concerts here which is worth the whole trip).
7. The Seven Churches of Revelations
Turkey is a place full of rich history Greeks, Romans, Ottoman Empire and so much more. If you are one who wants to experience the history of the Bible I strongly suggest taking a tour of the Seven Churches of Revelations. Although, there are no longer many church buildings left standing today; it is still cool to say you’ve been there. Travel Turkey to see these churches, Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.

6. Eastern Turkey
Many things to see in Eastern Turkey. From the UNESCO Mount Nemrut to see the colossus heads. Or Travel the silk road and stop in Van, Kars and other cities in the area. For those history buffs visit Biblical sites such as Mardin and Harran or the famous Mount Ararat to see the location of Noah’s Ark.
5. Turquoises Coast
The romantic picturesque coast is worth the visiting. Take a week-long boating adventure, party on the islands, swim in the crystal clear turquoise waters, go paragliding at Ölüdeniz Beach, indulge in a delicious fish dinner, visit Demre and learn about the legend of St. Nicholas.
4. Pamukkale
Visit Turkey to this must-stop World Heritage known as Pamukkale. The thermal waters formed a deposit of calcium/ limestone which cascades down the hillside, giving it the name of Pamukkale, “Which Castle.”
3. Black Sea Region
Visit Turkey to this region which is made up of gorgeous mountains and forest which makes it so different from the rest of Turkey. If you like outdoor adventures this the place for you from winter sports to water activities such as rafting and fishing to hiking trails and much more. Be sure to visit the cities of Samsum, Trabzon, and Kars. Don’t forget to see the world-famous Sumela Monastery.
2. Cappadocia
Wake up early and take a Sunrise Hot Air Balloon ride of the picturesque fairy chimneys. Stay the night in a cave hotel. Check out the churches and the underground city of Kaymakli. You won’t regret your stay in Cappadocia.

Known as “Green Bursa” for its many parks, gardens, and for being located at the base of Mount Uludağ. Relax in one of the many thermal baths. Spend a day checking out the many archaeology museums and learn about the history of the Ottomans and Christian Culture. Take time to watch the shadow play followed by some delicious Turkish Food and especially the famous İskender Kebap which will make you want to come back for more.
